10 Films With Amazing Casts That Should Have Been SO MUCH Better

Cast: Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen LatifahWhat It Could Have Been Ignore Queen Latifah, Samuel L. Jackson and Dustin Hoffman in the same movie? Yes please! Just as encouraging to audiences was that this film was based on a story by Michael Crichton (the writer of Jurassic Park) who was hired to turn his novel into a screenplay. The Reality The problem is that this Crichton novel does not translate into film as seamlessly as Jurassic Park. The ideas are too abstract and the set-pieces - being attacked by a giant squid - too silly. As the film approaches its conclusion, the plot spirals out of control: thoughts turn into reality, memories have to be wiped, the crew's subconscious minds begin to communicate with them through the ship's computer - it all gets way too cerebral. Because of this, the film never gets the best out of Jackson or Hoffman. Instead, their characters spend most of the film staring at a glittering sphere and pondering the possibility of alien life forms. The high-brow content neutralises the acting talent.
