10 Films With Multiple Different Cuts

Why George, why!?

George Lucas has earned something of a reputation over the years of failing to adhere to the classic phrase "Let sleeping dogs lie". What started off as a couple of special effects tweaking here and a little airbrushing there, turned into a full-on revamp of the films that basically no longer reflects the charming special effects-driven behemoths that ruled the '70s and '80s.

While some small changes have felt understandable, changes such as making Greedo shoot first and adding in the Cringe-Coma-inducing "Jedi Rocks!" scene has angered the fanbase a lot.

However, possibly the most egregious change that Lucas made to the films was the addition of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi. Christensen's performance has already been the subject of multiple think pieces and the stuff of real Star Wars hatred, so adding him in as Anakin's force ghost at the end of Return of the Jedi was about as welcome as lube at a funeral.

While the changes have certainly shown that Lucas knows what he's doing with special effects, many have argued that it's stripped away all the groundwork that Star Wars laid years ago with regards to practical effects.

They might not be Director's Cuts in the same way as others on this list, but the different versions of scenes that have come out and the constant chopping and changing were insufferable.

Ben Maples hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
