10 Films You Loved As A Teen, But Should Never Watch Again

8. The Waterboy

Touchstone Pictures

There was a time when Adam Sandler screwing his face up and doing his best impression of someone with severe learning difficulties was actually a novelty. The origins of this infuriating Sandler trademark can be traced back to Waterboy.

Sandler plays a waterboy for the local college football team, whose fits of rage at anyone who insults him get harnessed to turn him into the team's star player. Sandler's character is effectively mentally handicapped, uneducated, and with an anger problem that gets intentionally set off by his coach to turn him into a weapon - sort of like prodding a caged fighting dog with a stick to rile it up.

Sandler's squeals and silly voice may've been funny to a young teenager, but now they're profoundly irritating, especially in light of the fact that he continues to blight the box office despite having one of the most prolifically awful film resumes of this century.
