10 Films You Only Ever Remember Seeing The Trailer For

6. Greta

Released early last year, Chloe Grace Moretz starred as a young girl who finds a handbag on a train and aims to find the owner, befriending an old woman called Greta who is not all that she seems.

The trailer created large hype, dominating social media as audiences were intrigued to see the popular actress in a new genre. To some however, this trailer was disappointing - giving so much of the plot away that it was not worth even seeing the film. The major twists were spoiled and audiences already knew how it was going to play out.

The production company Focus decided therefore to only release the movie in selected cinemas and streaming platforms, becoming one of those films that would only be played because it was free to access. The plot took some strange turns that created negative reviews surrounding the limited release, including Greta displaying supernatural powers to stalk and taunt her foes in the third act.

Compared to the original trailer's popularity, the film flopped majorly and was hardly heard of again.
