10 Final Girls Who Should Return For A Horror Movie Sequel
3. Alana - Terror Train
With John Carpenter’s Halloween such a runaway success, it was unsurprising that a multitude of directors attempted to rip it off ASAP. The schlocky but undeniably fun Terror Train has the advantage over most of the competition by hiring Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead role.
Through a combination of the name “Terror Train” and Curtis’ presence, you can probably guess what unfolds over a tight 100 minutes. But what it lacks in originality (it lifts liberally from Psycho as well) it makes up for in exuberance, and the lead performance from Curtis is terrific as per.
Fresh from portraying Laurie Strode, Curtis is surprisingly unconcerned about being typecast. Again, she’s very much the good girl here as Alana, though one led somewhat astray in this instance. The movie starts with Alana convinced to play a cruel prank on a college sap, one that leads to tragic consequences.
While Alana is no Laurie, Curtis’ sense of fun lifts it above other Halloween rip offs, like the comparatively serious Prom Night (starring, as the final girl, one Jamie Lee Curtis). Alana facing off against disturbed killers on various forms of transportation sounds like an easy sell.
