10 Flaws Which Prevented Max: Fury Road From Being Perfect

1. CGI Overload Finale

Perhaps the only gripe with Fury Road on this list which most readers will agree with comes near the very end of the film - it's a single shot that stands out as an overly obvious CGI moment in a movie which otherwise only uses visual effects when absolutely necessary. As Nux sacrifices his life to block the entrance to the canyon he deliberately flips the huge rig he's driving, causing a large pile up in which mountains of debris flies towards the camera in 3D. It's a ridiculously cartoonish moment in a film which has proved that a mainly practical approach to the action, filmed on camera whenever possible, delivers a far more immersive and engaging experience. Miller's use of 3D in Fury Road was on the whole more passable than most blockbusters (his shots are clearly framed and he avoids unnecessary camera movements which tend to make 3D a strain to watch), which makes this glaring moment of in-your-face debris more egregious. Still, if that's the worst an action film can do then it's clearly leagues ahead of the competition. Do you agree with these criticism of Mad Max: Fury Road or would you describe it as perfect?
