10 Fool-Proof Ways To Save The Fantastic Four Franchise
10. Hire A Director That Fox Actually Trusts
Crucially, Fox need to hire the right person. They took a gamble by bumping Josh Trank up from his indie hit Chronicle to a major studio tent pole, but they clearly didnt have confidence that he could get the job done. While Tranks vision seemed to involve a lot more body horror and dark undertones, the producers at Fox seemed far more keen to produce a more generic and bankable superhero movie. It seems like Josh Trank was trying to make his own quirky version of a superhero film, but Simon Kinberg and the other producers wanted something a little more safe. Next time Fox try to get a Fantastic Four film off the ground, they really need to make sure that the director and the producers and the executives are all on the same page. If it's lighthearted comic fare they're after, why not give someone like Adam McKay a call? He helped Marvel steer Ant-Man back on track, after all. If it's dark and gritty filmmaking they fancy,Jeremy Saulnier of Blue Ruin (a pitch black revisionist revenge flick) could be ideal. One thing's for sure - if Fox start production without getting everyone on the same page again, theyll end up in another mess of reshoots and tinkering. And thats never a good thing.
