6. Don€™t Shy Away From Ridiculousness

As already mentioned, there€™s nothing wrong with dark undertones. In this post-Dark Knight world, we€™ve come to expect some level of brooding from the vast majority of our cinematic superheroes. However, that€™s not to say that a comic book movie can€™t be fun as well. The Fantastic Four property, especially, lends itself to a bit of silliness. After all, this is a film about a stretchy scientist, a walking brick sh*t-house, an invisible woman and a dude who can spontaneously combust at his own free will. This franchise, of all the comic book adaptations, should come with a bit of a knowing wink. The Marvel Cinematic universe has always trod this line very well, proving that a tragic backstory doesn€™t need to cause an entirely grey and miserable outlook. Tony Stark, Star-Lord and Ant-Man have all had their fair share of sad moments in life, but their films aren€™t soulless bores as a result. Fantastic Four 2 should embrace the inherent ridiculousness of its source material by bringing in silly elements like the Fantasticar (pictured above), and not being afraid to make a few jokes.
