10. Nuke The Earth
Okay, this may seem a little drastic, but The Terminator franchise could do with a massive nuclear strike to liven things up a bit. After all, one of the most effective scenes in any Terminator film is the nuclear holocaust that Sarah Connor has a nightmare about in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This scene truly showed us what Skynet is capable of total global destruction. Millions dead. The human race practically extinct and no semblance of normal society left for the tiny fraction of survivors. By showing us how this would play out in shocking detail, James Cameron added some real stakes to proceedings. This scene may be a dream sequence, but a realistic one within the narrative world of the films; weve already seen the post-apocalyptic world that Skynet creates in the original timeline, this is just a visualisation of how it happened. The post-Genisys franchise needs to re-establish this level of danger. Genisys only gave us a botched app launch and an evil John Connor to show us what the machines are capable of. Neither of these things are half as scary as a nuke, but if the filmmakers could bring back this level of world-in-danger doom, the franchise could yet survive.
