10 Foreign Movie Rip-Offs You Won't Believe Actually Exist
10. The Man Who Saved The World (1982) - Star Wars - Turkey
To be fair, they found a way to improve on Luke.
You can't blame Turkey for wanting to get on the Star Wars bandwagon - all countries should be able to share in a mutual love of clashing laser swords and naive siblings kissing one another. And yet the actual Star Wars wasn't quite good enough for this nation, apparently (probably the kissing siblings thing), which presumably led to the creation of this incredibly bizarre rip-off product, which also had the nerve to include actual Star Wars footage when it felt like it. Although it's clearly influenced by George Lucas' classic sci-fi fantasy (it begins with two characters crash landing on a desert planet), there are some major differences, including a noticeable lack of lightsaber scenes, which are cooly replaced by "glove to glove fight sequences." The soundtrack is built from other movies, too, 'cause why pay for an original composer when you have the entire John Williams' back catalogue? Gotta love that Raiders March.
