10 Foreign Movie Rip-Offs You Won't Believe Actually Exist
6. Badi (1983) - E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - Turkey
Only one of these movies has a scene where a policeman shoots a dog.
Given its loveable premise concerning a lonely boy and his alien best friend, you'd be mad not to rip-off Steven Spielberg's seminal fantasy adventure E.T., wouldn't you? When Turkey opted to do such a thing, though, they decided to do it in about the most terrifying way possible - or maybe they saw Mac & Me, and based their version of boy-meets-alien on that movie instead. So here's Badi, a kind of bizarre and terrifying version of one of those flicks. "Badi" is the name of our little alien friend, of course, who less resembles a friendly alien and looks more like a novelty golf bag. I don't know what Turkey was thinking when they drew up the design for this fellow. He might as well be one of the deformed alien clones that ends up asking Ripley to kill it in Alien: Resurrection. Badi totally skimps on any emotional storyline cues, by the way: the point of this movie is scare everyone out of their minds, for some unexplained reason.
