10 Foreign Movie Rip-Offs You Won't Believe Actually Exist
3. The Return of Superman (1979) - Superman - Turkey
Surprisingly, the budgets on these movies were nowhere similar.
This Superman rip-off makes no attempt to trick you into thinking you're about to watch a product of quality from its very first frame: we literally open on a shot of some Christmas ornaments hanging in front of construction paper, whilst a voiceover narration does its best to convince you that this movie is going to cling to a logical plot. Nope: The Return of Superman has America's favourite hero facing off against... well, just a regular old gang, actually. Superman isn't shy about actually murdering people in this movie, either, which kind of tells us that Turkey missed the point of the character - in one scene, he jams a metal pipe into the body of a bad guy, and he's totally okay with that. Most of this flick just involves Superman having to rescue Lois Lane, though, which occurs about a zillion times over the course of the runtime, whilst John Williams' iconic score from the Hollywood version plays in the background.
