1. My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Its a little known fact that Canadians make awesome horror films. From Black Christmas to Ginger Snaps Canadians have it caught the horror bug, hard. My Bloody Valentine is no exception. Set in the fictional town of Valentine Bluffs (or Nova Scotia if you squint) the residents are preparing for their first Valentines Day dance in 20 years after miner Harry Warden went on a murderous rampage but when town officials start receiving threats and turning up dead, everyone wonders if Warden is back to finish what he started. My Bloody Valentine is just a darn good movie. It keeps the pace up the murders happen consistently and fiercely. The cast is comprised of adults from a mining town who are fully formed and a love triangle that plays nicely into the overall tension of the film without overwhelming it. My Bloody Valentine is a near perfect slasher and a must see for any true genre fan.
