7. Alone in the Dark (1982)
Slashers that have the pedigree of an A-list film are about as common as farts in a Merchant Ivory film. Alone in the Dark stars Martin Landau, Donald Pleasance and Jack Palance as three escaped mental patients intent on murdering the family of their new psychiatrist believing he killed their former doctor. The film manages some formidable jump scares and turns into a home invasion thriller with more knives and babysitters. Alone in the Dark is a well written, underappreciated B-movie gem.
