8. Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery
New Line CinemaWith Skyfall making James Bond a phenomenon once again, now is the perfect opportunity for a good spy spoof and none did it better than Austin Powers. There's been talk of a fourth film in the franchise several times, this time set in the 1980s, but nothing has ever materialised. Mike Myers was comedy gold in the 90's when Austin Powers, Doctor Evil (and Wayne Campbell) were first conceived. But between the weaker Austin Powers in Goldmember and the dire flop that was The Love Guru, that is no longer the case. Even Shrek seems to have come to a natural end with neither the third or fourth entries quite capturing the magic of the first two. Bringing back some his greatest characters would be a great way of reigniting his career. What about drawing on the likes of the rebooted Bond and Bourne franchises? If Austin Power's style was out of date in the 90's then its positively ancient right now. How would he react to todays fast paced spy world? The new films could introduce a character that mocks Jason Bourne or Daniel Craigs Bond in the same way Austin played on Connery, Moore and the likes of Derek Flint, showing Austin just how far his world has moved on. Perhaps escaping back to the 80's would be the best thing for him?
