10 Forgotten Remote Outpost Horror Movie Gems
7. Outpost
Everyone knows the best way to make any horror movie even scarier is to add Nazis. Just ask the makers of the 2008 movie Outpost.
A group of international ex-military types (including one played by the late Ray Stevenson) are hired by a shady businessman to accompany him on a trip to an abandoned bunker. There’s just one catch - the bunker is in the middle of an active warzone.
Actually, there’s a second catch - when they get there, they discover that the facility was used by the Nazis during World War II as the site of a series of horrifying experiments.
As the mystery of the base’s former life begins to unravel, it becomes inherently clear that the war raging outside of the bunker has nothing on the carnage that is about to be unleashed within. Writer Rae Brunton described Outpost as “Platoon meets The Sixth Sense”, and he’s not a million miles off.
Throw in some excellent directing from Steve Barker and Outpost is a brilliantly scary watch that brings together all sorts of strands from across the horror playbook.
