10 Formerly Great Film Roles That Are Horribly Awkward Today

9. OJ Simpson €“ The Naked Gun Trilogy

Everyone loves The Naked Gun, so much so in fact that you tend to ignore or just awkwardly get by on a heavy dose of Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) whenever the convicted OJ Simpson is on screen. Before infamy, OJ was a real jewel in The Naked Gun series as bumbling Det. Nordberg. In fact, the opening scene where Nordberg is a sucker for punishment on a boat sets up the trilogy's tone and the trials that Nordberg so often endures. Of course, circa 1994 and beyond, OJ found out what real punishment is. After a strange and long-drawn out case in which OJ was plastered across TV Networks after fleeing the scene of his ex-wife's and her friend's murder, OJ was finally acquitted and found not guilty of their murder, despite the ridiculous amount of evidence that would suggest he did in fact commit the crime. The trial itself remains one of the most watched events in American history and its verdict left many people aggrieved. After this very public fall from grace and public fallout that he was never convicted of a crime many felt he was responsible for, OJ has since returned to a life of crime and now resides in a Nevada jail for robbery, kidnapping, coercion and conspiracy for a minimum of four years €“ it makes you wonder what crazy antics Nordberg will get himself into next!
