10 Funniest Characters In Sci-Fi Movie History

8. The Martians - Mars Attacks

Peter Venkman
Warner Bros.

As a kid, this film traumatised me the most and, in hindsight, it probably wasn't the best film to let a six year old watch who had trouble sleeping anyway. Now as an adult, not much has changed, although it's not the aliens themselves that keep me up at night, it's the shock that Tim Burton signed off on it and that they managed to get James Bond to play a man who falls in love with someone who is half woman and half dog.

Despite the film's glaring flaws it's ack-ack-actually quite a lot of fun and nobody brings the fun element to this alien invasion film quite like the Martians. The best moments in the film come from when the Martians wreak absolute havoc on the world, from using a bowling ball to knock over the Easter Island heads, to posing for a group picture in front of a burning Taj Mahal, these rascals from Mars made Earth look defenseless and weak with their own sick and twisted sense of humour, laughing their brainy heads off as our world came crashing down around them

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
