The one and only true blue epic comedy. It couldn't be anything else at the top of this list. It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World is the prime definition of epic comedy, ticking all the boxes to fit it into the sub genre, and doing so with sparkling gold ink that renders you blind if you look at it too long.
The fact that this movie was originally almost twice as long as most home releases of it but has been forever lost to history is a crying shame because all you want after watching it is MORE of it.
Everything from the characters to the story to the situations along the way not only more than earn every single one of the Mad's in its title, but would be the comedy highlight in any other movie. It's nowhere near as deep or as biting as the other films on this list with its humor, but as stated previously, if it makes you laugh as hard as this movie does, it really doesn't need to.
And on top of that, the scale of everything that goes on in this movie is insane. The gas station fight alone would be the centerpiece of any other comedy, but is just another stop on the way in this one.
It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World is just as funny today as it was when it came out, and should really be the first thing you think of when you think of an epic comedy.
