10 Funniest Harry Potter Characters
8. Seamus Finnigan
Seamus Finnigan was one of the few characters who was better in the movies than in the books. Whereas the book version of Seamus was relatively unremarkable, his movie counterpart had an unusual knack for explosive magic.
Essentially, the source of Seamus’ comedy was his recurring tendency to blow up whatever was in front of him. In The Philosopher’s Stone, he managed to detonate his own goblet in the midst of the Great Hall to gales of laughter from Fred and George, and in Charms class, he set fire to the feather he was supposed to be levitating.
This fiery tendency was sadly abandoned in many of the subsequent films. Yet it did make a return later on. In The Half-Blood Prince, Seamus caused his cauldron to blast a small explosion into his face, and in the second part of The Deathly Hallows, he rigged the Covered Bridge, causing it to collapse later on.
In the words of Professor McGonagall, Seamus had a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics.
