10 Funniest Harry Potter Characters
6. Argus Filch
As with Uncle Vernon, the unhinged caretaker of Hogwarts possessed a very foreboding nature. Though he took his job very seriously, he also delighted in the punishment of any student who befouled his precious castle.
Despite not being in the book, the scene in which Filch ran up and down the Great Hall in The Goblet of Fire was one of the funniest moments in the film. Conceptionally, this scene has nothing inherently funny about it, but something about David Bradley’s performance made it highly amusing.
It was similarly funny to observe Filch’s continuous attempts to get into the Room of Requirement in The Order of the Phoenix. Even with the help of Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad, his endeavours frequently ended in failure and pain.
As troublesome as Dumbledore’s Army was for Filch, his real nemesis was Peeves the poltergeist. Though he didn’t make it into the movies, this master of mayhem was a non-stop irritant for the angry caretaker in the novels.
Put simply, watching Filch struggle was always a source of entertainment.
