2. The Drama Between God And Man - Tough Guys Don't Dance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9KyBdPeKHg Another would-be serious film, there isn't a lot of comedy that comes from the 1987 crime film Tough Guys Don't Dance. That's not to say the film doesn't try to be funny, there's humor sprinkled throughout but most of it comes across as confusing or unfunny to audience members. Thankfully, that changes with a display of God-awful acting by Ryan O'Neal. In the scene, he's just walking around the beach and reading his mail like it's a normal day. That is until he's stopped cold with a letter telling him that his wife is having an affair with his ex-girlfriend's husband. Normally unfunny circumstances become laugh-out-loud hilarious when O'Neal starts loudly repeating, "Oh man! Oh God!" His complete lack of emotion totally takes the believability out of the scene and brings unintentional humor into what should have been a serious scene. Supposedly director Norman Mailer kept this awful take in the film because he believed it contributed something to the movie. Now that baffling decision makes sense since O'Neal's awful delivery is probably the only thing most people remember about this movie over 25 years after its release.
