You get exactly what's on the tin with Jordan Rubin's 2014 directorial debut: zombie beavers - and it's dam brilliant.

Arguably on the same level as Tremors and Critters when it comes to silly animal-based horrors, Zombeavers follows your typical bunch of randy college students on a trip to an idyllic, isolated lakeside cabin. However, their weekend plans are rudely ruined when they becomes interrupted by a colony of undead beavers, infected with - you guessed it - toxic waste.

Given the ridiculous nature of its title, Zombeavers knows exactly what it is and has as much fun with its premise as physically possible. With plenty of outrageous gore effects and surprisingly good performances from the cast (especially comedian Bill Burr), there’s a lot to love about this film. However, it’s the animatronic beavers that steal the spotlight. Although they’re not supposed to be particularly terrifying, their goofy presence is always a delight to see. And just wait until you hear the sound design that was chosen for them.

Unlike other cult horrors, Zombeavers was intentionally made to be this ridiculous. However, it still possesses that mysterious spark that will undoubtedly capture the hearts of cult film fans for years to come.
