6. Wolf (2019)

There are films that are “so bad they’re good” like The Room, Plan 9 From Outer Space, and Troll 2 where we love them because they fail to the point of being unintentionally hilarious. Then there’s the likes of Sharknado and Velocipastor that are outrageous, schlocky flicks that are supposed to be ridiculous B-Movies. And then there’s the innocuously titled Wolf, which lies somewhere between the realms of serious historical drama and ludicrously bad monster movie.

Directed, co-written, and co-starring BAFTA-winning actor Stuart Brennan, this entry transports viewers back in time to Roman Britain where a group of soldiers are tasked with venturing beyond Hadrian’s Wall in search of messengers who’ve mysteriously vanished. Though it isn’t reports of Pict ambushes or a plague this legion should be worried about, though, but a horde of werewolves that occupy the surrounding forest.

Leagues apart from Dog Soldiers, the cast chew every scene they’re in like a bad Game Of Thrones parody, the same short musical phrases are used on constant repeat, the weather changes instantaneously, and the special effects are even worse. Wolf is anything but a good monster movie, but this is exactly why it’s so fascinating to watch.
