9. Telepathic Journalists (Citizen Kane)
Orson Welles Citizen Kane focuses on the efforts of a group of journalists to discover the meaning of rosebud, the mysterious last word uttered by rich megalomaniac Charles Foster Kane. The titular character whispers the line in the opening scene, on his deathbed, alone, with no group of anxious loved ones surrounding him, before smashing a snow globe and alerting a nurse who bursts in five seconds too late to hear what he said (or save his life for that matter). This leaves question marks as to how reporters managed to discover Kanes last word when it was heard by no one other than himself. Arguably modern day journalists could feasibly hack his phone and sift through his garbage to get their info, but Citizen Kane was released in 1941, so telepathy is the only viable explanation. Unlike other entries on this list, this plot hole could easily be filled; just throw in a witness to Kanes death and everything works out just fine. However the sense of isolation in Kanes classic death scene would probably be an unjustified loss for the sake of a little coherence in the films plot.
