10 Gaping Movie Plot Holes You Probably Never Noticed

5. Not Enough Fuel (District 9)

district 9 District 9 is an alternate-reality science fiction movie that centres on an alien named Christopher who has been gathering fuel, presumably for twenty years, to power a ship that will return him to his home planet. The process appears to be extremely slow; in one scene Christopher extracts a single drop of fuel from a piece of scrap, before dripping it into a canister. A light then turns blue on the canister indicating that it is finally full and ready for use. In the end (spoiler alert) Christopher uses the fuel to escape from Earth and presumably return to his home planet and live happily ever after. Or does he? Before his victorious escape, most people would be forgiven for forgetting that a human named Wikus has accidentally sprayed some of the fuel, and probably years of Christopher€™s hard work, all over his face. Does this mean that Christopher never reached his destination and ended up starving to death on the ship in the middle of space? The film chooses to totally ignore this hole and instead concentrate on how contact with the fuel transforms Wikus into an alien, despite samples of this alien liquid apparently being present in pieces of scrap laying all over the district.
