10 Genius Moments In Otherwise Irredeemable Films

4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Wolverine & Sabretooth's Montage Of Battles

Masters Of The Universe Skeletor

There have been many questionable moments in the X-Men franchise, but none worse than the outright blasphemy that was Origins.

Not to overstate it, but didn't it feel like everyone involved in the production was constantly saying to each other, "Hey, I know this is already pretty bad, but isn't there some way we can make it worse? Like, could we cast will.i.am as a mutant and maybe find a way to have Deadpool talk less?"

There are some folks who will defend Origins to some degree, and those people likely passed out around the 10-minute mark of the movie and woke up just in time to see the post-credits scene where Deadpool is shown to be alive, with a functioning mouth.

Because the opening credits montage, featuring Wolverine and his half-brother Sabretooth slo-mo murdering their way through every major war in history, is quite literally the only tolerable part of this movie. Not only is it technically masterful, but it contains more character development than we get from the other 90 minutes of runtime.

At the beginning of the montage, both Wolverine and Sabretooth appear as valiant soldiers, but by the end, they've been placed at opposite ends of the humanitarian spectrum the wedge between them has been set.
