10 Giant Movie Plot Holes That Everyone Chooses To Ignore

9. What Was Doug Doing? - The Hangover

It's easy to hate on The Hangover movies - mostly because two out of three are so dreadful - but it should be remembered how much of a splash the first made on release, and what a positive short legacy it had until The Hangover Part III seemed to kill any good will off altogether.

The Hangover is still a great comedy, though (if one with admittedly questionable racial politics). And that's despite the mechanics of the plot relying on a giant plot hole. The hole's not so easy to spot, chiefly because the film is so focused on the shenanigans of Phil, Alan and Stu as they search for their missing friend in Las Vegas, who - they later discover - just happens to be up on a hotel roof, getting sunburnt, not making any real attempt at escaping.

The film just assumes Doug has remained still for two days, almost as though the writers forgot he was a human being with the capacity to think critically. Still, it's too hard to care when you're watching Bradley Cooper getting tased and Mike Tyson attempting to resuscitate his career.
