10 Giant Movie Plot Holes That Everyone Chooses To Ignore

8. What Happened To The Joker At The Party? - The Dark Knight

"Where is Harvey Dent?", The Joker asks, as he barges his way into a fundraiser for Dent over at Bruce Wayne's swanky Gotham bachelor pad. The audience can answer that one for you, Joker: he's somewhere in the flat, something you would have discovered had you simply looked around, rather than - apparently - departing as soon as Batman left the party.

A little bit of background: this is the scene in which Bruce Wayne hides Dent in a secret room, then puts on his Batman gear, fights the invading Joker and his cronies, then exits the building in order to save Rachel Dawes. The pad is now free for The Joker and co. to explore; instead, director Christopher Nolan cuts to the next day, almost as though nothing ever happened.

The scene assumes The Joker would have simply left, leaving everyone to carry on, but the biggest mistake is that Nolan doesn't even explain what happens next, just assuming you'll forget. Which, of course, you probably will, when the superhero package is this much good, clean fun.
