10 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2016’s Biggest Movies

1. Superman Calls His Mother By Her First Name - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

And finally, arguably the most contentious scene of the year had fanboys frothing so hard with rage that they probably forgot about another aspect of the scene that makes absolutely no sense at all.

So, Batman (Ben Affleck) stops trying to kill Superman (Henry Cavil) because he screams out his mother's name, making him realise that Superman has a mother and is, like anyone, a son.

What's stranger is that Superman actually shouts out "Martha!" at all, because a) what son refers to his mother by their first name? and b) what the Hell is Batman supposed to do with this information?

It would've made more sense if Superman just shouted out "My mother!" or something similar. Batman would probably still be pretty miffed, but the Martha line was clearly just a transparent, forced way to remind audiences that their mothers have the same name. Which is dumb.
