10 Ginormous Movie Franchises That Should Quit While They're Ahead

7. Iron Man

ironman31Woah, what's this ginormous franchise about, then?Iron Man is just one of many sub-franchises in the already freakin' massive Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimo-franchise, which is just about as confusing as it sounds. The series, based on the iconic book character, focuses on one Tony Stark, an egotistical super-genius who builds himself an impenetrable suit and takes up work as a superhero. Along the way, he must come to terms with his newfound fame, legacy and all the supervillains bent on making him not alive. And it should quit? Why? We've had three movies now, two great (Iron Man and Iron Man 3), and one that was better than okay (Iron Man 3): why push it? Even the third movie seemed a little confused as to what to make the story about, and it finished in a way that made it feel like something of an "end," presumably done should Robert Downey Jr. have decided that he no longer wanted to be Iron Man. He recently agreed to reprise the role for two more Avengers movies, of course, which is fine, but how long can we keep going with these singular stories before it gets old? As of now, we have a nice, self-contained little trilogy - it'd be unwise to brandish an unnecessary fourth flick.
