10 Glorious Deaths In Forgettable Films

7. The Car Pile-Up (Final Destination 2)

Freak accident series, Final Destination, was surely designed with lists like this in mind.

Building its plot around its chosen protagonist being able to see how themselves and the ones they care for are going to die, the films see the characters constantly trying to cheat death. Invariably to little success.

In the first sequel of the series, Final Destination 2, Kimberley (Andrea Joy Cook) is the lead burdened with the premonition - seeing her friends and those around her killed in a deadly pile-up on Route 23, caused by a lorry carrying logs.

The set piece that ensues in the visualized prophecy is nothing short of spectacular. A Police officer impaled by a giant trunk, a motorcyclist flattened by their own bike, enough car flips to make 007 feel inadequate and car explosions worthy of an Expendables feature.

Whatever followed the chaotic concoction of trauma was always destined to underwhelm and this sequel doesn't offer much in the way of character development from the previous entry...as most of them were terminated in it.

There's no disputing Final Destination's commitment to viscerally astounding human endings, it's just a shame the cheesy dialogue and predictable narrative make it difficult for us to commit the events to memory.
