5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

It's bizarre how The Texas Chain Saw Massacre spawned countless follow-ups, and yet, none of them managed to capture the spirit of the original. (The 2003 remake came pretty close though.)

By the time the ninth instalment was released, simply called Texas Chainsaw Massacre, our expectations were at rock-bottom.

Against all odds, this legacy sequel turned out worse than anyone could've imagined. The plot and characters are so paper-thin, you wonder why the filmmakers felt compelled to tell this story.

In Texas Chainsaw Massacre's defence, there's enough bloodshed hear to satiate any gorehound, especially during the bus sequence. Unlike previous instalments, nothing is left to the imagination. We see EVERYTHING.

Not only that, we've never witnessed Leatherface cut loose like this before (literally). Limbs fly. Passengers are bisected. Heads are lopped off. The skin-masked cannibal rams his chainsaw up one poor sod's butt, slicing through his private parts. Just when you thought things couldn't get crazier, Leatherface then shoves the blade (which is still firmly inside the man's nether-regions) into another unfortunate passenger.

For this scene alone, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is worth a look.
