1. Pay Attention To Your Surroundings
Perhaps more than anything else, the reason so many horror characters fall prey to their assailants is because they simply dont pay attention to their surroundings. Outside of investigating a noise in the distance, characters never seem to really take into account the environment around them. Someone may be watching them from the bushes not even a hundred feet away, and yet they never notice them. How can people be so blind? If these people actually paid attention to their surroundings, theyd notice these peepers right away. And as long as they dont go investigating by themselves, they wouldnt have to worry about being taken out alone. Horror characters always have the blinders on and only focus on what lies directly in front of them. Sure enough, they turn around to find the monster right behind them, and before they can react, it is too late. This happens way too often to the point of being comical. If these characters truly want to survive, they will most surely have a better chance if they just paid more attention. There you have it, 10 golden rules of horror that characters never obey.
