10 Golden Rules of Horror Movies That Characters Never Obey

2. Don't Take Vacations In Secluded Areas

The creepy secluded cabin in the woods is one of the most classic settings for the horror genre, and so we€™ve seen it reused many times over. All too often we see a group of friends take a vacation to such a place, and after a while, you start to wonder what the appeal of such a spot is. What teenager wants to go stay in a rusty old cabin for the weekend? Only horror movie characters apparently, and they always end up regretting it. In the world of horror, secluded areas outside of modern civilization are a breeding ground for demons, killers, and diseases. There is no one to help in case of danger, cell phone reception is always blocked, and the house is always home to some terrible secret. Such a spot is begging for blood, and it never fails to deliver. If only the characters were able to realize this, and maybe they wouldn€™t all be dead.
