10 Goriest Films Of All Time

4. Ichi The Killer (2001)

ichi-the-killer A Yazuka boss called Anjo disappears along with lots of money. Kakihara takes over the gang and proves to be a weird sadomasochist. Fujiwara runs a rival gang that used to be affiliated with Anjo's gang. Various misfits hang out in a bar cum brothel and they take direction from Jijii. Jijii is pretty pleased because he is grooming a one man killing machine named Ichi, who is taking out members of the two gangs. A very unique, off the wall manga adaptation, Ichi the Killer piles on the gore like cream onto a bowl of strawberries mid-Wimbledon. Ichi primarily kills people through dismemberment due to the razors sticking out of his boots. The screen is so blood-soaked with killings it actually mitigates the squeamish factor. Everything is so over the top it becomes amusing rather than sickening. The film is light and surreal - it is as serious and and as affecting as an episode of Itchy and Scratchy. And to top it off, it features some of the finest and most innovative gore sequences ever put to celluloid. Another gory triumph for Takashi Miike!
