1. Johnny Depp Is Exploded In A Geyser Of Gore - A Nightmare On Elm Street

One of the most revolutionary horror movies ever made, A Nightmare On Elm Street had a tremendous narrative hook: if you fall asleep, you die at the hands (or rather, claws) of Robert England's crispy critter, Freddy Krueger. Johnny Depp makes his screen debut as Glen, Nancy's boyfriend, and though the two determinedly plan to take Freddy on together, their parents prevent them from meeting, and it's not long before nature takes its course, with Glen falling asleep. This leads to an outrageously gory scene in which Glen is killed, as he is sucked down into his bed and spat back out in a geyser of blood, which shoots up and fills the ceiling, just as his mother walks in and screams the house down. Satisfaction Rating:9/10. Depp may have been a no-namer at the time, but it's great fun in retrospect to watch the future mega-star cutting his teeth in Hollywood, especially in such an outlandish and bloody scene, from a movie which is certainly a lot more entertaining than at least Depp's last 5 starring roles.
