One of the most hilarious scenes from last summer's This Is the End occurs just as the apocalypse begins, with a coked-out Michael Cera grabbing everyone's attention and asking (with slurred words), "Who took my f***ing cell phone, man?" As he begins his tirade ("After all the coke I wasted on you people..."), cracks emerge in the pavement and grass by his feet, causing a lamppost to fall from its foundation, immediately impaling Cera through the stomach. As blood pours out of the wound, the ground continues to move, and both he and the lamppost are lifted into the air, to the abject horror of the countless other celebrities filling out the scene. At that point, Cera realises he had his phone on him the entire time, and as blood gratuitously squirts out of him, he declares, "Oh s***, that's embarrassing." The ground continues to break away and both he and the lamppost fall into the fiery depths of the Earth's core. Satisfaction Rating: 9/10. Michael Cera has proven one thing throughout his career: he's great at playing socially awkward young men (or as many say, "playing himself"), but he doesn't appear to have all that much range. Cera thankfully poked great fun at himself here by playing a fictionalised version of himself that is, for want of a better phrase, a complete douche-canoe. Seeing him be violently killed was a tremendously cathartic experience for those who complain about the actor, and even if you don't hate the guy, seeing him play a part so different, and then meet a massively unexpected fate, was extremely satisfying.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
