8. Elijah Wood Is Dismembered & Eaten By A Wolf - Sin City
Until Sin City was released, nobody really believed that Elijah Wood could be taken all that seriously in dark, villainous roles, given his childish, almost angelic face and reputation as an all-around nice guy. He turned those expectations on their head playing Kevin, the mute cannibal serial killer who has a habit of killing hookers, keeping their heads as trophies and devouring the rest of them. With his outstanding martial arts skills and metal claws, he proves to be a mighty match for Mickey Rourke's Marv, until Marv manages to handcuff him during close-quarters combat and knock him unconscious. Marv talks to Kevin as we realise that his arms and legs have been severed, but he's still alive. Just then, a wolf comes along and begins snacking on Kevin's remains, but Marv expresses confusion that Kevin doesn't react or scream in pain, even when Marv eventually takes a saw and decapitates him. Robert Rodriguez's hyper-stylised imagery allows us to get some good glimpses at the wolf tearing the flesh from Kevin's body, and of course, a shot of Kevin's stoic, expressionless decapitated head. Satisfaction Rating:7/10. We can't deny getting a huge kick out of seeing Elijah Wood in such an against-type role, and that it concluded with such an unexpectedly violent end for his character was just the icing on the cake. That, and if you're not a Lord of the Rings fan, this one is doubly gratifying.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
