3. Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge

Glorious vivacity, style and colour make it a visual joy and Nicole Kidman as Satine is truly splendid. What makes her performance even more special though is that most of her numbers are duets with the rather less splendid Ewan McGregor. Whilst he portrays innocence, naivety and artistic frustration very well, as soon as he breaks into song we are brought out of the frame and left wondering what Baz Lurhman was thinking. Jim Broadbents version of Like A Virgin is at least done with tongue in cheek and it is still far better than McGregors attempts at Your Song.
