Rick Moranis starred in some of the best comedies from the '80s including Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. He continued to work well into the 1990s, but in '97, he disappeared from Hollywood and retired from working in front of the camera.

Fans may miss him, but the can't blame his reason for leaving the limelight. In 1991, his wife, Ann Belsky, passed away leaving Moranis to raise their two children. Instead of working and leaving the kids with a caregiver, he decided it was best to leave Hollywood behind and take care of his kids. He hasn't appeared in a live-action film since.

That isn't to say he hasn't been working; he provides his voice in animation from time-to-time and has released comedy albums as well.

While he isn't acting , Moranis makes occasional appearances at charity benefits and says he is not officially retired, but selective of his work and still in hiatus.
