10 Great Characters Wasted On Terrible Horror TV Shows

3. Elena Michaels - Bitten

Canadian werewolf series Bitten limped along on subpar ratings for three seasons, following Elena Michaels, a troubled Lycan attempting to balance a perpetually dangerous double life.

On one hand, she has a pleasant, relatively standard lifestyle to enjoy in Toronto with her boyfriend. On the other hand, however, she has a whole werewolf family to contend with in New York, including a previous lover responsible for her moonlight, transformative situation in the first place. Michaels’ troubled, layered past and complicated, high-tension situation in the present aid in making her a complex, layered lead protagonist.

Portrayed with charisma and conviction by Laura Vandervoort, Elena's troublesome situation carries the show’s entertainment value. Regardless, the series overall does very little to stand out from the sea of vampire and werewolf shows and films of its time. Lazy and oddly lowkey despite its fantastical premise, the show rarely manages to make the most out of Michaels' potentially compelling dynamic.

Despite a loyal cult following, Bitten failed to net a major audience, ultimately costing it its slot on the small screen after three seasons.

John Cunningham hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
