10 Great Comic Book Movies You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

10. X-Men

What It€™s About: As the government attempts to mount a €œMutant Registration Act,€ different mutants begin to find their way to Professor Charles Xavier€™s school. Together they must form a team, learn to accept themselves, and prevent Magneto from turning all of New York into mutants. Why It€™s Great: It wasn€™t the first comic book movie, but along with Spider-Man, X-Men set the stage for the modern era of the genre. It had a memorable ensemble, impressive action, and most of all, a resonant social message underneath. It showed the world how good a comic book movie could be and represents one of the forebears of the genre. Why You€™ll Never Watch It Again: While Days Of Future Past did the franchise a huge favour by removing duds like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Last Stand from the timeline, it also permanently erased X-Men as well. It€™s just hard to go back to this shattered continuity, knowing that none of it happens. Likewise, it's simply jarring seeing how radically different some of the characters and their relationships are from their younger selves in the new series. Specifically, it's bizarre to watch the total lack of contact between Charles and Mystique. X-Men will a remain a classic in the genre, but it€™s best to remember it as it was instead of reminding yourself that none of it is canon anymore.
