10 Great Comic Book Movies You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

7. A History Of Violence

What It€™s About: This slow-burn crime thriller follows small-town diner owner Tom Stall, who becomes a local celebrity after foiling a robbery and killing the assailants. Questions begin to arise about his past, however, when a threatening gangster comes to town and accuses him of being someone else. Why It€™s Great: The way the film handles violence is so enthralling. It lulls the viewer in with some gripping scenes and then shows the cost of those same actions in the characters' lives. It€™s a strong character drama that revels in its ability to make us question ourselves and how we perceive the inescapable theme of its title. Why You€™ll Never Watch It Again: The film€™s suspense hangs on whether or not Tom is really Joey Cusack, the gangster that he is accused of being. Until the moment he reveals himself, it€™s hard to be sure one way or the other, but once he does, there€™s no going back. While some twists make their movies better on a re-watch, affording you the chance to look for clues that give it away, knowing this one only causes the movie to lose its edge and nothing more.
