10 Great Comic Book Villains That Need Proper Film Treatment

8. Venom

8 Venom cropped Venom stands alongside the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus as one of Spider-Man€™s greatest foes. He is actually the combination of two of Spider-Man€™s enemies, the muscly and dodgy ex-journalist Eddie Brock and an alien symbiote suit that Spider-Man rejected. Venom has all of the powers of Spider-Man amplified. He has infinite webbing and is stronger that Spider-Man. Because Spider-Man used to wear the suit, Spider-Man€™s spider sense does not work on Venom. Venom also has all of the memories of Spider-Man from when he wore the suit. He used this to great effect, scaring Spider-Man€™s loved ones to the extent that Mary Jane couldn€™t stand Peter wearing a black Spider-Man suit of any kind. Although Venom seeks vengeance on Spider-Man, he doesn€™t see himself as a villain. He has even attempted to operate as a hero. Venom appeared as one of the villains in Spider-Man 3. The symbiote suit and Venom were very well animated in the brief scenes that showed Venom€™s face. The character of Venom however was quite disappointing, having very little of the menacing nature he should have. Harry Osborn already had knowledge of Spider-Man€™s identity so there was no opportunity for Venom to exploit his knowledge of Spider-Man. Likelihood of appearing again It is possible that a new version of Venom may appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be released in 2014. The director Mark Webb has hinted that in the film Harry Osborn may become Venom, as with the incarnation of Venom in the current Ultimate Spider-Man animated television series. In the Ultimate comics version of Venom, the symbiote suit is created by Spider-Man€™s father. The Amazing Spider-Man film series is exploring the story of Spider-Man€™s parents. It is possible that Amazing Spider-Man 2 will combine the Ultimate TV version and Ultimate comics versions of Venom to create a new Venom that hopefully does justice to the character.
