10 Great Film Ideas Utterly Wasted On Terrible Actors

9. Snow White And The Huntsman - Kristen Stewart

SnowWhiteandtheHuntsman-Still2 On paper, the idea of a darker, more gritty Snow White sounds pretty awesome. Less singing to birdies, more fighting. No complaints here. I've always found the Huntsman to be a really interesting character, so I was excited to hear that in the new film he'd be getting a lot more attention. And then I realized that Kristen Stewart would be playing Snow White, and my words of praise turned to ashes in my mouth. If she could have mustered up any amount of enthusiasm for the role, it might have been salvageable. Chris Hemsworth is fine as the Huntsman, and while Charlize Theron has a tendency to chew on the scenery a little bit, overall the performance works. The giant, insurmountable issue of this film is Kristen Stewart's complete lack of emotion or believability as the titular Snow White.... Her climatic battle speech is half-hearted and cringeworthy, and any momentum that had been building up to that point died a swift and painful death. Painful for the audience, anyway.
