10 Great Films That Take Place In A Single Location
1. 12 Angry Men
Based on the teleplay and stage show of the same name, the film follows 12 jurors trying to reach a verdict in a murder case. At first they're all in agreement and ready to go home, but then one lone juror isn't quite sure the man is guilty.
It's all about reasonable doubt, the idea that if the jury feels there's any major questions left in their mind, it's their duty to vote not guilty. None of the jurors are given names and are only referred to by number, yet they're all distinct and memorable. The film is an absolute powerhouse of incredible acting.
Many of them start off genuinely convinced by the evidence, while others really just want to get out of there and go home. But they all go through a transformation of some sort by the end of the film, most notably Juror #3. And besides all that, it's just really fascinating seeing these people play out the case and go through all the details of it, trying to figure out what really happened. You feel like you're piecing it together along with them.
12 Angry Men is one of the great examples of developing characters in a subtle way through dialogue. It's really one of the greatest films of all time, and the king of all one location movies.
