10 Great Films That Take Place In A Single Location

2. Cube

Al Pacino Dog Day Afternoon
Trimark Pictures

Seven strangers wake up in a cube. They don't know where they are or how they got there, and they must work together to find a way out. Each cube simply leads into another identical cube, and it all amounts to a giant maze full of deadly traps around every corner.

Among all of the movies where strangers have to figure out how to escape from something, Cube is the best of the best. It's a great combination of sci-fi and horror, playing into the claustrophobia of being trapped in this giant maze. But there's also a lot of mystery going on here, and though you never see outside the cube (until the sequel), some outside forces are implied to be at work.

Each of the characters is distinct with their own strengths and weaknesses, and the way they work together is pretty believable. You really want to see these people make it out, but from the beginning the whole thing just seems overwhelming, one giant puzzle that just can't be solved.
