10 Great Films You Can't Admit You Love (And Why)

"You're aware that's a Michael Bay film, right?"

It might sound somewhat odd, but not every great film is a film that you can comfortably proclaim the greatness of.

Fact is, there are a whole bunch of reasons why a person might truly enjoy a film but choose to keep that information secret. Not least because a good deal of films, regardless of their quality, take on independent associations. Sometimes these are accurate, but most of the time they're pretty nonsensical.

Still, certain associations can make it very difficult to voice an honest opinion, especially when film fans often get so passionate about what they love and defensive about what they don't.

Fear not, however, as this article attempts to recognise some of these unspoken masterpieces, explaining what exactly makes it so difficult to admit that they're great.

10. The Emperor's New Groove

Disney

Over the years the quality of Walt Disney Animation Studios' output has fluctuated. Perhaps this is the reason why so many people don't think very highly of The Emperor's New Groove. It was followed up by some of the most divisive Disney animations ever made, like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Lilo & Stitch and Treasure Planet (give yourself a pat on the back if you're seen all three).

Most people, then, lump the film in with those lesser titles. And admitting you love it is like saying to the world: yeah, I like the crappy modern Disney films too. Which is a totally ridiculous judgement given the fact that the vast majority haven't even them.

In actuality, The Emperor's New Groove is awesome. It's funny, unique and has two of the most memorable Disney villains ever in the form of Yzma and Kronk.
