10 Great 'Hang Out" Movies

6. A Hard Day's Night

the beatles The first of five films starring The Beatles, and still the definitive of those films, Richard Lester's film has the Fab Four- Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr- playing themselves in a story based on their lives at the height of Beatlemania. While it's not technically a documentary it's still a wonderful time capsule that captures a particular time and place in pop culture that would define the rest of these four young men's lives, and the lives of the people swept up in Beatlemania. For any Beatles fan this film is to be cherished since it allows us to spend time with the men behind the music. We get to witness their highjinks and humourous reaction to their fame, as well as view them right as they were maturing in to the artists that would solidify them as one of the greatest, if not greatest, band in history The film has a incredibly nostalgic feel to it as we see The Beatles in their prime. We know now watching this film that they would eventually break up, and that John Lennon and George Harrison would both die before their time. We wish they could have stayed forever this way. But if you think about it, as long as we have this film, they'll always be forever young.
